After all, Catwoman is one of the not so frequent cases when we for some reason disagree with the observers of a site such as Gamespot. Put the Catwoman for the schedule seven ???? Yes, from what oak, excuse me, did they collapse there? What hardware were you looking at? Because on ours – it’s not like ten, it’s eleven! This is an unprecedented graphic, similar to which we have not seen. If the same can be seen in the version on the Xbox, which there is no particular reason to doubt, then together with the Riddick chronicles this pair of games allows us to believe that a normal DOOM III is possible for a Microsoft machine. Because finally, xbox-programmers (namely, from there, without a doubt, the roots of Catwoman) took up the mind and began to actually comprehensively program using tricks and features of iron – and not just paste new models into ready-made engines. Their games finally gained originality, individuality, began to impress with new technologies – a milestone that games for PS2 overcame a long time ago.
What you see on the screen is unique. Although in general, it is the logical limit development of the recently popular scheme – an ideally worked out character in the center of the stage, the simplification of the elements of which is masked by outstanding special effects. In this case, this is a perfect character and perfect special effects. The cat model looks perfect no matter how you look – it is delightfully smooth and naturally looking from a technical point of view. She is stylish and flexible, aggressive and sexy at the same time – superbly impressive when seen from a design point of view. Fantastic animation that easily beats Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia – not to mention that it is more natural for men, most of whom are gamers, to find pleasure in contemplating a female body in motion. Moreover, the animation both in the game and in multiple videos on the engine, with which the promotion of the plot is saturated. How it rushes in leaps, how it glides along the roofs, how it freezes at the edge, illuminated by the radiance coming from below! In what truly feline-female poses does the “battlefield” survey, preparing for action. How gracefully scoffs at the enemies 🙂 How she moves, while standing, that in a cat stance, snuggling to the ground. How quickly, accurately, fiercely acrobatic fights. What jumps, crawl along the walls, lightning-fast maneuvers, jumps from wall-to-wall, what acrobatics on poles, and yet the use of a whip, the mass of special techniques to be opened. In general, you can recall a little characters, whose range of capabilities at least came close to what we have with catwoman, and certainly no one came close in style and grace with which all this is performed. We love you, catwoman !! 🙂
But all this luxury is not inferior to the background, against which the events unfold. If you stop time and look at each of them individually, you will not find anything remarkable, and the more bewilderment: how can such a luxurious whole form out of such unpretentious pieces? Moreover, even in situations without special frills: here the police officer drives up in a car — well, a simple car, well, it’s obvious that the police officer is straightforward — but it looks okay. And in the thick of things – just magic begins – all kinds of different lighting-shadows from different directions, blurring and smearing spots of light, different blooms, spotlights, holes and fountains from bullets (accompanied, naturally, by an audio cacophony of heavy fire) come into force. The camera highlights the awesome cinematics of somersaults – sometimes, of course, straying from the path of efficiency for the game, but the sight is on the way. There is no sense of authenticity – there is nothing to survive under such a hail of lead, unless it is Alien from the film of the same name – but the feeling of comic bookness, and so healthy, movie-like, and not classic comic book-be real. Poor catwoman rushes among the “lights, smoke and flames”, pursued – and performing such tricks on such backgrounds that life seems like a holiday, and the next bar on the scale of “progress of reality virtualization” has been achieved.
At the same time, the scenes themselves were made creatively and often very beautifully – carefully selected convincing interiors, fantastically picturesque open spaces, as if created in order to effectively sweep over them. And to everything, the environment is also highly interactive – a lot of objects are laid out specifically to break or scatter them, and huge delightful chandeliers, of course, just wait for them to be dropped. Interactivity is also used in battle – many windows exist only in order to drive someone into acceleration (our cat does not childishly, body paint and fly and fly), as well as cabinets and garbage containers. But there is no blood, guts, dismemberment at all, much to the disappointment of fans of this kind of scenery. The game is still in the film and in some way for children, too.
