Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising
The single-player campaign is represented only by the cooperative regime and, to be honest, is of little interest. Bots on both sides behave tolerably (at least better than the enemies in Alpha Black Zero: Intrepid Protocol and Marine Heavy Gunner: Vietnam combined), but they can not be compared with a living thinking person.
But multiplayer polished to a shine. Despite a number of intersections of the game concept with the already famous hits in the face of Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament 2004, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is distinctive enough to boldly reject all attempts to call it a clone. First of all, the game offers unlike larger-scale actions. Up to 150 people on a server is a figure from the field of Massively Multiplayer Online-projects rather than ordinary team actions.
However, even such an impressive team is lost in the vastness of giant maps. Designers did not skimp on spaces, and developers on alternative means of overcoming them. Helicopters, jeeps, boats and other wheeled-wheelless units are an excellent help in large-scale combat. But only help! The balance is strictly maintained, so that under the joint operations Operations: Typhoon Rising does not turn under any conditions. There is always a place for pedestrian combat, and a horseless fighter is by no means helpless in front of combat vehicles, because there are often grenades, a mortar, and even a Stinger missile at hand.
Although, perhaps, the “Novalodzhikists” overdid it a bit, belittling the importance of technology in favor of the classic action game. The physical model of driving vehicles turned out to be extremely weak. Of course, the developers themselves explain the almost complete absence of differences between the foot march and helicopter flying by the desire not to damage the dynamics. However, nothing terrible would have happened if they had made the behavior of the machines more realistic. Well, God bless them, with cars. The main thing, all the same, people.
Warriors of both sides are divided according to professional criteria into assault infantry, heavy infantry, engineers, doctors and snipers. Each of them has its own characteristics, mainly related to ammunition. So, an ordinary infantryman specializes in the use of assault rifles, grenades and a bazooka. His “heavy” colleague masterfully handles all kinds of heavy machine guns, providing heavy fire – are priceless for cover. An engineer knows how to use the notorious Stinger, and also has the right to a mortar – long-range artillery. The latter is especially effective in conjunction with a sniper who, in addition to his main shooting activity, is engaged in directing artillery fire. In short, Novalogic did everything to ensure that a well-coordinated team represented a truly formidable force in the game.
You can demonstrate your own skills in several multiplayer modes, which are perhaps nothing new in surprise. Nevertheless, thanks to hitherto unprecedented scope and high-quality execution, military operations are perceived differently than in other projects. We have Team Deathmatch, Team King of Hill and Advance and Secure mode borrowed from Battlefield, where teams of participants need to capture and hold strategic points on the map.
In total, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising presents about 30 maps for different modes, and the sizes of some locations reach 50 square kilometers. To visualize such disgrace, the well-used Delta Force: Black Hawk Down engine is used, the technology is already a bit outdated, but still quite awake and capable. In any case, with the processing of vast expanses and the change of the daily cycle in real time, she copes with a bang.
Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising can be considered the main event of the past week. The game has not crawled out of the most prestigious sections of gaming publications for a long time and now in fact has met the expectations of the public. Whether the new multi-player monster will be able to squeeze the indefatigable Counter Strike in the Battlefield 1942 clubs is another question, but all fans of the dynamic large-scale thoughtful multi-player meat should be familiar with it without fail and urgently.
